When creating the layout, it’s important to determine what makes the most sense. For example, the most important functions should be the easiest to reach and access. The lesser functions can be placed farther away from the central area. The layout can also focus on grouping like functions together. For example, space heaters with adjustable climate settings would have buttons to raise and lower the temperatures places nest to each other.

Another advantage of modular keypad control design is scalability. A single layout can be used for a variety of similar machines and machine models.
