Using a Rubber Keypad Rapid Prototype for Presentations

When giving a new product presentation, providing visual information is very important. Clear images of product ideas, functions and uses are all noteworthy elements to communicate and explain to your audience. If you’re presenting or marketing your latest idea or invention to possible investors or company management, you’ll probably want to use a rapid prototype of your rubber keypad design instead of waiting for the final development and production. Rapid prototyping is a process that allows you to create three-dimensional keypad designs made of prototype silicone before the actual product has been created. These are very useful for marketing strategies and PowerPoint presentations. To make the most out of your rapid prototype as an audience tool, follow these tips.

Images
When taking pictures of your rapid prototype to use for marketing projects or PowerPoint presentations, make sure that your sample has the most important elements visible to the camera. If it’s a single-sided design, which is often the case with medical silicone prototypes, only one view is important. Take a picture from several different angles, including from the side, above, on diagonal, up close and a distant view. When using a wraparound design, take photos of all dimensions, and make sure there is a clear image of both the front, back and sides that can be used. A variety of angles is also helpful for these views. These photographic images can be used for brochures and PowerPoints, or just to explain your idea. Make sure that the images are clear and that the details of the rapid prototype of the rubber keypad design are easy to see. Different colors can be used for emphasis or visualization to make them stand out better.

Lighting
When photographing your rapid prototype for marketing and presentations, be sure to use proper lighting. If it’s too dark, the images can’t be clearly seen. If it’s too bright, the features will be washed out. This is especially important for items with printing on the device. Part of the effectiveness of prototypes is to represent the product’s likeness. If it can’t be clearly seen, you’re not getting the most out of your marketing and presentation efforts.

Function
When using rapid prototypes in live presentations, be sure to explain that the rapid prototype is 95 percent in detail and quality of what the final product will look like. While the prototype can’t be used instead of the final product, this can be very helpful in visualizing the final product concepts. Medical silicone prototypes, for example, can show how and where to turn it on and off, where window displays and the placement various functions are on the device.

Quality
Consider using a professional photographer. If your organization is creative-minded, you may already have the means to present a professional image of your device’s rubber keypad design. If not, be sure to ask for samples of previous photographic work before deciding which photographer is best suited for the job.
