Sustainable Silicone

When it comes to manufacturing, few processes can rival the Eco friendliness of silicone injection molding right here in the US. At Si-Tech we utilize state-of-the-art silicone injection molding machines to provide our customers products of the highest possible quality. Our closed loop systems further cut down on waste and improve the consistency of our products.

Keeping manufacturing in the US is one way to improve the sustainability of your product. Less distance for products to travel results in less fuel consumption, less pollution, and lower costs. At Si-Tech we can also provide secondary procedures in house that will save our customers time and money, as well as reduce waste.

Some products are actually more sustainable when made from base materials, rather than recycled materials. Products made from base materials, like silicone, have the ability to last much longer and will not need to be thrown away and replaced as often as products made from other materials.

Studies involving hormone disrupting chemicals like BPA, BPS, phthalates, and micro plastics, have shown plastic to be harmful for the planet, as well as our health. Silicone has all the convenient features of plastic without any of the toxic side effects. This is because the base material of silicone does not contain the same types of chemicals that are found in petroleum based plastics.

In 1979, the US Food and Drug Administration determined that silicon dioxide, the raw material that goes into silicone products, was safe for food-grade applications. Health Canada also states: “There are no known health hazards associated with use of silicone cookware. Silicone rubber does not react with food or beverages, or produce any hazardous fumes.”

Silicone does not support micro bacterial growth. It also boasts high temperature resistance, chemical inertness, water repellency, and ultraviolet resistance. This makes silicone a strong, safe, eco-friendly alternative to plastics.

At Si-Tech, we have a history of precision engineering medical components and ITAR registered products. You can be assured that we will be able to minimize waste, and produce high quality products, consistently.
